Beer Trucks

This business ran for over 60 years by Albert 'IAN' Beer, carting fruit to market and sand. The family business is no longer running but the last two Dodges and vintage loaders remain in the family.

Albert " IAN " Beer was born in 1929. He left home at 13yrs of age and started working at local orchards, picking fruit and driving tractors.

Ian bought a truck with a tray and started carting fruit to market, later converting the truck to a tipper. Ian loaded the sand with a shovel until he could afford a loader.

Ian married Louvaine (Caygill) in September 1953. They were a great team, Louvaine taking the orders via phone, then tracking Ian down between loads if orders were urgent...

Ian always ran 2 trucks, mostly V8 Dodges, which were updated every 2yrs.

The business ran for over 60 years based in Strathmerton, with sand pits in Yarroweyah and Cobram.

Ian worked into his late 70's, slowing down but never stopping.

The family business isn't running, but the last two Dodges and two vintage loaders still remain in the family.
